About Us

The Engine Room Ltd are experienced marine engineers specialising in marine engineering, vessel maintenance, and marine engine repairs throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific. We provide practical, reliable support for commercial and recreational vessels, covering everything from routine servicing and preventative maintenance to breakdowns, fault finding, and major mechanical repairs. Whether it’s an engine, drivetrain, or onboard systems, our focus is keeping vessels safe, compliant, and running as they should. We are the authorised distributors for Bukh and Beta Marine engines and gensets, a distributor for John Deere marine engines and genuine spare parts, and a service agent and parts supplier for Scania marine engines. This gives us direct technical backing, correct parts, and the knowledge to repair and maintain these engines properly, not just swap parts and hope for the best. Our workshop and parts department stock a wide range of marine engine spares and service items, helping minimise downtime and keep maintenance efficient. We work closely with owners, skippers, and operators to plan servicing, manage ongoing maintenance, and carry out repairs that make sense for how the vessel is actually used. Established in 1994, The Engine Room brings over 100 years of combined marine engineering experience. We’re known for straight advice, quality workmanship, and strong after-sales support. If it needs fixing, we’ll fix it properly. If there’s a better long-term solution, we’ll help you find it.

Andy Winter - Owner/DirectorAndy has owned the business since 2002. Qualifying as an engineering artificer in the Royal Navy he has had a career on various ships and submarines around the world. Vicki Winter - AdminVicki worked in the Marine Industry for 7 years prior to joining The Engine Room in 2002. Richard Loft - Workshop ManagerRichard joined The Engine Room in 2004.
